Jubilee Ribbon Dress

Today my daughter has her schools Jubilee Picnic .. which they are having in Arundel Castle by invitation of the Duke of Norfolk who is a patron at the school…

In her eyes this is the equivalent of visiting the queen so she asked me to make a dress in the red white and blue theme….  and I forgot!

So last night – I had to really rummage in my stash and find something suitable that included the crown that she wanted to stitch on the front.  Et voila…  I created a godet classic dress pattern made with some left over bunting fabric (yes some of them are upside down but hey its a patchwork look and I didnt have a lot left!), stars from Christmas .. oh and the crown made up from yellow felt from her own design…  plus a rather dashing ribbon fastening at the back (as I didnt have any zips)…

Have to say I was a little pleased with the result – although dont look too closely at the stitching as I was getting a little weary towards the end.  But my trusty new Janome saw me through, especially with the automatic eyelets!

She was thrilled as if it were Christmas – which made the late night worthwhile…

As for the rest of us?  She has designed a tee shirt which I am printing later and will share anon

Happy Weekend x
