Celebrations: Colourful New Snowflakes

snowflakecolours2

There are so many new things arriving at Pearl and Earl HQ that we feel a little bit like its Christmas! ..  especially when these new Sunburst / Snowflake fan decorations turned up this week.

In delicious rainbow colours, they complement our other decorations and original white snowflakes beautifully.  They look fabulous mixed in with our fans and pom poms as an alternative wall back drop .. or hold court on their own at any time of year.

Delicious x

Party: Twisted Twine Delights

We have been busy little elves at Pearl and Earl over the last few weeks – breaking all our previous sales records, week after week…  so thank you to all of you who have chosen to shop with us this Christmas.  One of the most popular products of ours has been our Bakers Twine.  Available in a rainbow of colours, it is 100% cotton and has been made EXCLUSIVELY for us since last year.  Our spools of 100m are by far the best value in the UK yet deliciously decadent all at the same time.  It’s the little details we love…

Press: Alternative Advent

In Easy Livings Christmas issue – they chose to use some of our Block Bottom Candy Stripe Party Bags to create an alternative DIY advent calendar.   Which we think looks rather chic!

Press: Colourful Homespun Christmas

Prima Magazine’s Christmas edition this month featured a colourful Homespun piece styled by Selina Lake .  She mixed our paper balls with paper straws and lots of other colourful delicious pieces to create a whimsical display that also used a bike with fairy lights…

She even managed to get one of my new Christmas Cross Stitch Stockings stitched up from my Jacqui P collection which looked fab!

We are so thrilled that the press are using lots of our products and giving us plenty of inspiration for Christmas – Pearl and Earl style!

Press: Living Etc goes Paper Bling for Christmas

Back in at the beginning of the Summer we had a large press request from the fabulous team at Living Etc – one of our favourite home style magazines.  Amongst other things they needed 120 blue and mini fans!.. and we wondered just what on earth they were going to do with them all.  But seeing the multi page results in this months Christmas edition, we are absolutely thrilled with firstly how amazing it looks… (Loving the blues and purples as an alternative theme)..  and secondly just how much coverage they gave Pearl and Earl and our paper decorations!

The style team also used plenty of our metallic curtains which added a lovely backdrop in the lounge and dining schemes.  Our decs were also called in to decorate one of the homes, and finally were used in the ‘ask the designer’ section of the magazine – when advising a reader what was hot to update their Christmas decor, the answer was Pearl and Earl!

Hope you feel as inspired as we do by their vision… and how fab to be recognised for our hard work in the press.

Vintage: Christmas Glass Decorations

In my Christmas past our family decor involved a LOT of paper decorations (hence our Pearl and Earl obsession) but also involved getting a rather forlorn box from the loft every year that was filled with glass decorations for our tree, much like these vintage ones by vintage junque.  Every year as we unwrapped the old news paper we would see if they had survived intact..

Over time I have sought and bought lots of these  and our tree is a mish mash of vintage glass, as well as some new glass additions and OTT madness.  I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Christmas: Big Blowsy Balls

This week has been one filled with housekeeping … as we are sprucing up our photography, websites and products ready for the on set of Christmas!  I will share some of our latest pics – but first up are these reshoots of our “Handmade in Sussex, UK” tissue paper pom poms in all their glory – next to our paper balls.  Considering the pom poms are 15 inches (38cm) when fluffed – it shows just how big our Pearl and Earl Supersize Balls are!  A lot of dec for your buck!

We offer 11 colours of spikey pom poms and discount packs of 10 and 100.  Each is flat packed with special ‘frou frou’ instructions, complete with hanging ribbon.  We often make bespoke sizes, colours and designs for TV and Events – and are looking to launch this option to all of our customers in the New Year…

Vintage: Bambi Obsession

I have an obsession, that comes from when (as a child) I thought baby cham sipped from champagne coups was the epitome of glamour! Plus the obvious adoration of Bambi!  Hence my yearning for this Vintage Deer Pair by Ocean Swept.

I think they make a rather whimsical alternative Christmas decoration …  no?

Vintage Christmas: Santa Light

Press: 25 Beautiful Christmas Decorations

Feeling festive yet?  Well in this months 25 Beautiful Homes – they feature our Christmas Decoration Pack and individual White Christmas Items, like our Snowflakes and Bells which are already being snapped up!  (Yikes!)

Cross Stitcher 257: The Wooly Stitch One

Cross Stitcher 257 landed on my desk this weekend..  and my trend column this month is all about Wooly Stitches.  Whilst cross stitch and needlepoint crafts are as old as the hills, traditional tapestry and crewel threads getting make overs by chic stitchers all over the place.  There are lots of new books like Jane Brockett’s Gentle Art of Stitching and of course my Supersize Stitches.  I also noticed Cath Kidston has reprinted her paperback STITCH book with the wooly stitched tapestry on the cover, instead of her more traditional looking cotton cross stitch.  Then there are all the contemporary needlepoint kits out there like those from Felicity Hall (who did a fab Scandi Horse in this issue) and a new collaboration by American Anna Maria Horner and Coats.  All exciting stuff for those of us who prefer a wooly stitch, and its good to see lots of cross stitch lovers moving to try the wooly side of the fence.

So for my design project in this issue – I have released the next in my set of ‘cross over stitch crafts’ – after the success of my ‘Crochet Look’ cross stitch Granny Square, I have created an extended collection of Crochet and Knit look patterns.  Including this ‘Knitted’ Stitched Stocking in the mag.

Jacqui P (my stitching label) is having a bit of a make over in the next few weeks, and all the new kits / patterns will be available on Pearl and Earl as well as the Jacqui P site.  We needed to have a revamp after feedback from customers, and also problems we have been having with components.  It is taking a lot of time behind the scenes, but think it will be worth it in the end.  It is just taking a lot longer to complete than anticipated.

Happy Stitching x

Crafty Style: Crochet Star Garland

Not much to say about this crochet star garland by NAMILIO except how simple and gorgeous is that?  Christmas Tree decorations anyone? Too soon?  Never

May have to create my own crochet star pattern and share.

Party: Supersize Giant Decoration

Last week .. just before our move, we got some of the new Pearl and Earl Christmas items in … including this supersized 1.2m giant paper pink piece of gorgeousness!

It was almost as big as Mr H!  Now that’s what we call a Christmas Decoration!

Crafts: Knit Look Cross Stitch Christmas Stocking

Over the next 3 months I have created 3 special Christmas Projects for Cross Stitcher Magazine.  One of my latest design obsessions has been trying to blend crafts – taking one craft and seeking inspiration from another.  It all started with my GRANNY SQUARE project – which I did a variation of for my book.  Making Granny Afghan Crochet Squares from wooly cross stitch….

and so began my obsession …

Over the past 18 months, I have created lots of new stitch look patterns which are being launched later this year on my dedicated JACQUI P site.  Using one of these as a base I designed this Christmas stocking – which is made to look as if it is made from giant knitted stitches…. finished off with some colourful pom poms!  Think Santa will like this one..

It will be in issue 258 out next month

Geek Chic Crafts: Anyone for a Christmas Jumper?

Stumbled upon this little gem of a site  CHRISTMAS JUMPERS while googling for Granny Knits…  randomly fabulous

Mr H may well be getting one of these under the tree

NOTE: I have tagged this as Fashion and Style in the most tongue in cheek of senses!

More new gift tape…

Today at Pearl and Earl HQ we had another delivery of our best selling gift tape … exclusively designed by us it has been a real hit with our customers this Christmas.

One of the latest designs uses some of our favourite fonts to make a super long version of our NO PEEKING TAPE.  Available in both red and green – we think it is great all year round for your present wrapping stash.

The tapes spice up the simplest kraft paper bags or paper wrappings … and we took this picture today of our tapes next to a normal sellotape so you can see just how generous they are at 66 meters long!  The normal magic tape or washi tape is less than 10m.

We are currently finalising our collection for next year – so what would you like to see on a tape?

Easy Living Feature our decorations

The lovely Beatrice at Easy Living Magazine also did a full page feature .. which is probably why we have sold out of hot pink paper fans!

Lots of Red and White still in stock… and you can shop our Christmas decorations here.

Living Etc go mad for paper decorations

Living Etc this month went mad for our paper decorations – they called in lots and lots of samples and we love what they did with these pink paper balls.… mixed with tutus no less!  You might get a similar effect though simply mixing with some fans or garlands in pink here… which they didn’t end up using.

Our Granny Knits pom pom bobble trim was strung up a stair case as an alternative trim which also looks inspired… and the red paper ball in a lampshade is a little bit of Christmas madness…

Gorgeous
