Competition: Limited edition Marmite Goodies

Recently I was the Craft Judge for a Marmite Marketing campaign featuring an exclusive enclave called the Marmarati.  The prize?  Entrance into an exclusive society and an ability to collect points and free limited edition Marmarati goodies from silverware to kitchen accessories.  The main winners got lots of extra goodies – but the folks at Marmite also sent me lots of bits and bobs and I thought I would share some of my stash!

Up for grabs – this embroidered apron and oven glove.  Only a few were made and like all things Marmite, obsessive fans mean these are much desired!

All you have to do is let us know below by way of a comment why you have to have them.  Ends 1st November 2012, normal rules and regs apply.

NOTE added 26.10.12:  SORRY< BIG APOLOGIES > but the legal bods at Marmite have asked me to hold on tight to my Marmarati goodies due to a secret code of conduct of which I was not aware.  So I am sorry to say that these cannot be shared and are now staying firmly in my own collection for fear of offending fellow secret society members.  New uncomplicated competition in the pipeline.

Crafty Judge: Decision Time

For the past few months.. Marmite have been running a campaign looking for an elite group of fans with ‘special talents’… dubbed the MARMARATI

I was privileged to be asked to judge the Craft Category and had to complete my own challenge to set the bar… {WHICH YOU CAN READ ABOUT HERE}

Hundreds of crafty entries were whittled down to 50 finalists and we had to choose a winner and runners up.. You can see the full list of recruits here

My choice as the main Craft winner was this upcycled stool from an old Marmite Apron, created by Genea W …Why?  Mainly because I SO want one!..

I also loved the bespoke Lego Mini Figure too… plus some of the stitchery that was submitted  and you can see my favourites below

Well done one and all!

Marmite meets Crafty Mrs P

I am thrilled to announce my latest project – to be the resident CRAFT JUDGE for the Marmarati

Who are they?  I hear you cry… Well the illustrious Marmarati are an esteemed collective of the most dedicated Marmite lovers.  Entry into their society involves proving yourself worthy of the title by passing a challenge, and the results are judged by specialist Marmarati’s  (of which I am now one).

Marmite is a British Institution which induces a love/hate relationship depending on your palette… and its following is immense.  We at Pearl and Earl are lovers of its iconic toast enhancing status – and I was honoured to be bestowed with the title of JUDGE OF THE CRAFTS CHALLENGE for the Marmarati.

My task?  to choose those worthy of entry into this most elite of societies… you can read more about it on the dedicated website www.Marmarati.org – or follow the Marmite facebook page which is being hijacked by the Marmarati during their recruitment campaign in June 2012!

My partner on the judging bench is the delectable food creative and curator Miss Cakehead (seen below surrounded by our paper decorations) who recruited me on board – but first I had to come up with my own crafty challenge… in true Supersize Stitch style, I created an larger than life version of the Marmarati XO jar, complete with a gold JACQUI P embroidered back, as a nod to my craft site where all of my stitchery can be found!

We are negotiating with the Marmarati as to whether we can share our own secret Marmite Chart recipe… but until then you can find a collection of Black and Gold style decorations to celebrate this most delectable spread.. including our giant X O balloons!.. or why not bake, make, or DIY your own craft in Marmite style for entry.

Hope you are a lover xo

Jubilee Bake Off!

This weekend we had 2 street parties and one of them had a JUBILEE BAKE OFF .. as you may know I love a baking challenge.. and the children were in full on competitive spirit.

So we put our heads together – and decided on a red, white and blue sponge layered cake..  with a sparkling union jack and sugar fondant crown on top! (with little ones to match in our new baking cups)

We dyed the sponge with natural food dye – and it came out more turquoise than royal blue (very Pearl and Earl!) ..  but were very pleased with the results

But it was not until we turned up at the blind judging table, that we realised just how competitive the local bakers were – with WI and unbeaten reputations at stake! There were over 30 entries.

First round was on looks – and we got through to the final… when it was down to a blind tasting with the judges…  and we won!  So with a set of fabulous Emma Bridgewater Cake tins as our prize, we went home happy..

but the gloves are apparently off with the local ladies for a rematch for the festival … what have I let myself in for!

For those of you who love VW Camper Van’s but are yet to own one all of your own, why not enter our competition we are running with our lovely friends from Vanilla Splits.  They have 12 little pimped up classics (and one Mr McHenry was the original 1962 Splitty used by Matchbox for their model van).
Here is Dylan on a jaunt with us to the seaside at the Witterings in December (a camper van is for Christmas not just for one Summer!).

Parasol Parade

Today was the start of the Arundel Festival – our home town. The town crier heralded the start as the ‘make your own parasol parade’ meandered from the Castle to the Town Square. We love all these Eccentrically British traditions – especially when our Pearl and Earl posse bagged 1st and 2nd prize! (Yeah Batman and Flower Parasol). The festival runs for 10 days, so if you are in the area why not pop along and enjoy the festivities.
