and today – to share the love we have 25% off with code CUSTARD.. yum

Upcycled Tablecloth Embroidery

You will note from my posts that today has been a creative day in the studio..  playing with new techniques and getting on with the hard core stitching up of the projects for my book. (Which I cannot wait to share)

One of the little trials I did was with the whistle while you work design from this months Cross Stitcher magazine.  Using an embroidery coloured pen I copied the outline of the swallow and heart design onto an old plain white tablecloth, stitching up the outline with chain stitch for a bit of texture – I am going to fill in the bird with some made coloured satin stitches

Quite a big old project to do the whole 2m tablecloth … but at least I have started!..

An Alternative Deckchair

Last weekend I decided to reupholster one of our old kitchen chairs.. now I am by no means an expert when it comes to this!  But I am happy to play!  But this is now my 6th chair so after Mr H had used a bit of brute force to take off the old school fabric, I used the old fabric as a template and cut out some new bits.
Using fabric tacks I tacked the DECKCHAIR STRIPED FABRIC from Granny Knits in place, and with a glue gun added a bit of our signature BRIGHT BOBBLE TRIM to the edges and the back.
I loved it so much that it is no longer in the kitchen, but now has pride of place in our hallway.
This the upholstery book I use for reference..
No chair / stool is now safe in our house, they are all up for an extremely colourful makeover!

My Bobbly Chair

**Blogger has been a mare this week – and deleted this previous post along with a couple of others – so I am relisting them.

Baking and Kitchen Pieces

We are thrilled at the response we have had to our work at Granny Knits of late.  It has meant that I have been spending most of my waking hours organising kits and designing new pieces… and I realised I had not blogged about these 2 little KITCHEN focused stars which were in the same issue of CROSS STITCHER as our ROYAL WEDDING SAMPLER
Well now the wedding is over, surely it is time to give these 2 a little showcase

Retro Hot Ones!

Been a bit slack on the blogging front of late – simply because we have been overwhelmed with deliveries from both Pearl and Earl and Granny Knits….
On top of all that we still need to make sure that come Spring we have lots of lovely new things to tempt you, and I am working on some really lovely editorial projects… so the days have been long working late into the night!
The 50’s and 70’s are both hot trend topics for next year..  both favourite eras of mine, from a kitsch, humourous and colour and pattern point of view for starters!  So when Cross Stitcher asked me to work on some ideas for their April Mag – I came up with a super cheeky 50’s housewife which will be quick to stitch with highlighted key 50’s colours of red, pistacio, and sky blue…
Then I have been working on some colourful cutlery for a while…  as I want a large bench cushion for our kitchen!  These will be available as monster cushion patterns on our site… stitched in my signature rainbow pallette or 2 versions (including ones in frames) will be included in the April Cross Stitcher.  Issue available from 1st March.

Cracked Egg Cosy

I came up with this little design at Easter… but seeing as this blog is new – I would point you all in the FREE PROJECTS direction..

Stitched on 10 count tapestry canvas using appleton wool yarns.
