Sneaky Peek of A Crafty Supersize Commission

Here is a little sneaky peek of one of my latest commissions which is out next week..

Follow our facebook page for the next update :)

Jubilee Queen Silhouette Stamp Stitching

Over the next couple of weeks I will be launching lots of new kits and patterns (which are the result of a summer being poorly but creative!)

I have been into silhouettes of late .. and also have been asked to create some designs for the Jubilee next year and have been feeling quite patriotic – and this little gem is a combination of both obsessions …

I have done a full sized Stamp kit – and this is a mini stitch version of my stamp, which will be available as a pattern and I think it is great as a childrens stitching project.  Buy this week from the updated PATTERNS SECTION (which is still work in progress due to dreadful broadband speeds this week!)

Happy stitching

Christmas Crochet

More cute hats and crochet .. this time with a Christmassy feel ..you can hook up your own with this PDF pattern by JTeasycrochet on Etsy…

I may just leave one for Santa …

Granny Square Stitching

Really excited today to share with you one of my latest projects I have been squirreled away working on.  It is my Granny Square Stitching…

Regular readers amongst you will know of my love of crochet – and I have stitched up quite a few little blankets in my time – hooking up mini squares when I have a spare moment to experiment on new patterns.

So I thought why not try it in cross stitch – and low and behold here it is -

The pattern will be available in full kit format on Granny Knits – which you can obviously then adapt at your leisure. I used this prototype to cover an old chair seat with – and photographed it next to one of the kids crochet monster crochet granny squares that I made in the past from scraps of old yarn

I am a little bit in love with this one – and hope you like it too…

Cath Kidston Cross Stitcher Freebie

Whilst my design is on the cover of this months CrossStitcher 243 – the team have landed a super coup with a free Cath Kidston Stanley Dog pattern – taken from her book STITCH.

There is the pattern as taken from the book and instructions on how to make up into a lovely pencilcase.  Whether you choose to needlepoint or cross stitch – we think this is a classic to keep

Lot of pattern for your buck this month.. and there is a voucher to get £3 off the book included …not bad for a £3.99 purchase.

Cross Stitcher latest Cover

Issue 243 of Cross Stitcher is out this week and we are thrilled to have our 6th cover this year!  I love the WHISTLE WHILE YOU WORK design – simply because I was working in my new vintage colour palette.. and could not help but “hum a merry tune”

Those of you familiar with most of my work know of my love for rainbow brights – with most of my designs being in 12 key colours.  I do this because I love them – but also it makes it easier on the purse strings of regular customers who only have to invest in one of our key palettes to get started.

The vintage palette will be new for Autumn 2011 – and I hope you like it as much as me, and I think the colours will be a great investment to mix and match in your stash.  I will be sending an update on the blog so be sure to FOLLOW US in our new format on craftychatter.com to get the latest updates

The pattern as always will be available to download or you can pop out and buy your mag – which also features my latest column – as well as 4 more designs from me…

I also love the teacup pin cushion (by Maria Diaz) which is in this months issue….  Well done to Charlie and team for a fine read!

Happy Stitching x

Festival Homage

This weekend it was Glastonbury…  those who follow on twitter will have had my minute by minute posts of what was a truly nostalgic musical feast it was – before the fallow year next year.
The summer solstice start to the festival season was surely one of the greats?  With us all shaking our booty to the gold jacketed glory of Beyonce and her rock solid thighs on Sunday… Ceelo Greens mammouth shoulder pads, The Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay and Gwenyth, Mumford and Sons and even U2 finally doing a festival…  let alone the sideline shows of Morrisey, Kool and the Gang et al….
They even have a whole Craft Field these days…. and built a whole tower block out of polystyrene!
Craft blogger PERRI LEWIS has a full crafty low down from her adventures.
For me the festival always reminds me of my youth – when it meant that Uni exams were over, we rocked and then had 3 months off!  Now I feel lucky to get a mere 3 minutes off…  but hey.
Me and Mr H will keep on rocking …  and in homage I made up this YOU ROCK quick cross stitch mini pattern for Granny Knits .. and have reframed 2 of our best selling 100 secrets to life to hang in my office

No067 Get Wellies Muddy
No075 Rock at a Festival

Think my blog may take on more of this 100 secrets feel to make sure I am living up to my own standards!

Cross Stitcher 241 Designs

Cross Stitcher issue 241 hit our mats this morning.. and we were thrilled to see that we had our 5th cover project this year.  For this issue we were asked to do something a little different – and came up with these round Folklore Hippy Chic Cushions.  Designing on the round was a challenge due to the square nature of cross stitch patterns – but we were thrilled with the results, and think the team have done a sterling job with the stitching and styling.
In the back of the magazine is a sneaky peek at next months project – a postcard style bag which has a front and airmail style addressed back.  Two for the price of 1!
Perfect projects for sunny days for sure!

Happy stitching! x
