Cross Stitch Wedding Cake

As  Pearl and Earl… we like to think of ourselves as creators and curators of chic celebrations… but when this one landed in my inbox, my crafty alter ego Jacqui P was simply mad for the Handmade Countryside Wedding of Elaine & Drew.  But in particular their cross stitch initial wedding cake, in delicious turquoise, red and white…  and the perfect companion to our modern stitched wedding sampler

Crafty chic style for sure…

Personalised Cross Stitch Chic Baby Sampler

After the final dash of finishing my book … I have at last been able to knuckle down into finishing off some of the new Jacqui P bits and bobs.

Our kits are in the middle of a make over, and I cant wait to get back all my bits and bobs and share them with you.  Meanwhile here is the first of one of our latest kits (which was finished last AUGUST!!!) yes I am that behind!!  I have had so many requests for a modern baby sampler - to tie in with the wedding sampler that we sell so well.

It can easily be personalised with my signature font alphabet – or for a small fee we (I) will create your own chart for you.

Happy Stitching x

Jacqueline Wilson’s Super Fan Party

Regular readers will know of my recent commission by Dame Jacqueline Wilson to create a crafty piece to coincide with the launch of her new book Sapphire Battersea.
Jacqueline Wilson is a legend – and the most borrowed author in British Libraries, selling over 25 million books in the UK alone.  Most famous perhaps for her character Tracy Beaker, she has very loyal young fans (including my daughter!).  I cannot tell you how thrilled and utterly honored I was to be asked to complete this challenge for her.
Today Jacky sent me this picture of her and the sampler at the Superfan Party for the book launch – so I thought I would share …
The sampler is in Septembers The Official Jacqueline Wilson Mag..  there are lots of events this Autumn for Jacky’s fans, including her very own festival.. so this really is a very exciting project… and you can download it for free here for a limited time only.

Free Jacqueline Wilson Sampler for Sapphire Battersea

This week is the launch of the new book by Jacqueline Wilson – Sapphire Battersea.

At the beginning of this year I was asked by Jacqueline and the team from Jacqueline Wilson Magazine (JW Mag) to design a sampler that Sapphire could have stitched over the course of her life.

It has to be naive enough to have been started when she was a tot – and only have a couple of stitches so that her readership of young girls would be encouraged to take up the craft!

The stitched framed sample was launched at the Book Launch and a the Super Fan event while I was ‘in recovery’..  and the fans seem to like it!  The sampler is going on tour with Jacqueline on her promotional travels over the next few months – including her own festival!

But from today you can download the sampler exclusively from Granny Knits FOR FREE HERE, for a limited time only.

I has been a complete honour to have been involved in this project – and I hope that it inspires some new young blood to take up stitching.

Jacqueline Wilson Commission

Those of you who follow us on Twitter may be aware that we have been commissioned by Dame Jacqueline Wilson to create a crafty piece to coincide with the launch of her new book Sapphire Battersea
Sapphire Battersea is due out in September 2011, and it is the second book based on her Victorian  Heroine Hetty Feather, as she continues her adventures and passions in the Circus and beyond.  Sapphire (Hetty’s Stage name) is an accomplished seamstress, who creates all her own costumes.  My challenge was to design a Victorian style sampler that could have belonged to Sapphire, chronicling her life and adventures.
I cannot show / tell you any more until the launch – but the finished piece will be seen first at the book launch and will be available to fans through The Official Jacqueline Wilson Mag..  there are lots of events this Autumn for Jacky’s fans, including her very own festival.. so this really is a very exciting project.
The piece is all stitched up..  and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Royal Wedding Launch

I am thrilled to share with everyone my Royal Wedding Sampler, which is going on the next Cover of Cross Stitcher Issue 238 (out 22nd March)
The publishers have asked me to keep this under wraps since last year..  but I have persuaded them to let me give you a sneaky peak of my finished piece..  which they have bought forward as they love it so much!.. giving you plenty of time to stitch it ready for the big day.
As the Royal Wedding approaches – there is of course the plethora of standard ‘tat’.. but there are also some other modern creative pieces which we think are rather splendid.  In December The Independant  commissioned some designers to come up with some modern spins on Wedding memorabilia..  which I thought I would share with you.. Mr X Stitch did his own Keep Calm cross stitch sampler – which is fabulous in its simplicity.  Artist JAMES BROWN (who has done some recent commissions for Cath Kidston) opted for something in his signature poster style  – but we particularly adore the Corgi teatowels by TO DRY FOR  and this colourful china of Westminster Abbey by PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS NEED PLATES.
Dont forget we also have a “Commoners Wedding Sampler” for you non royals in our signature wools.
Roll on the long weekend!….

Heritage Samplers

In the batch of goodies from the framers yesterday, I also got back this sampler stitched on vintage aida that my Mum made for me.  I love some of the classic cross stitch designs, mainly because in the current age of ‘disposables’, they have a sense of timeliness that seems to surpass any of the frivolities of modern times.
I still have handiwork from various generations of my family which are wheeled out for special occasions, or indeed on permanent display.  The longevity of the goods is surely something to treasure, and I only hope that my new wedding sampler and other contemporary designs will have the same heritage value in years to come…
